What we read,
and how we weigh it
Our work starts from sources. This page explains which ones we monitor and what makes one reliable.
Source classes
Four tiers of source
National news outlets
Major South African publishers, including news24, are monitored daily for mentions of clients and their sectors.
Official registries
CIPC records, JSE announcements and court rolls provide facts that news reports are checked against.
Trade and regional press
Industry titles and regional papers often shape how a sector is described in search and AI answers.
Reference sites
Encyclopaedic and database pages that AI systems frequently reuse, reviewed for accuracy.
Verification
How we test a claim
-
01 — Trace the origin
We find the first publication of a claim, not the latest repeat.
-
02 — Check against records
Dates, titles and figures are compared with registries and documents.
-
03 — Rate it
Each finding is marked accurate, outdated, disputed or wrong.
-
04 — Act proportionately
Only wrong or materially misleading items prompt a correction request.
